LES FEMMES PUBLIQUES & LES HOMMES PUBLICS
Les Femmes Publiques and Les Hommes Publics are manifestos of beauty. They celebrate female and male beauty that represent ideals of sensuality, allure and strength. The thought behind these two new magazines is to honor the timeless beauty which is instilled in our history and therefore in our DNA. Images are kept in black and white with only specific sections displayed in color.
THE BRANDING
The logo is composed by one very contemporary, straightforward typeface and another more nostalgic one. Classic but with a little spice the words “Femmes” and “Hommes” are the centerpiece and throne on the page like a statement. Additionally, it also conveys the position taken by the magazine.
CREATING AN EXPERIENCE
Its big sized format once again reiterates the concept of monumental beauty, giving it space to breathe and to unfold its magic.
Both magazines currently share the same space and are accessed by turning the publication upside down. Within the pages the typography plays on the same concept, which is why interaction with the physical object is part of the experience. The pages of the magazine are not bound allowing again interaction with the paper. The loose pages can be taken apart, revealing new constellations of images that can be hung on the wall or just simply be enjoyed.
LHP and LFP are not an extension of CAP 74024, they’re rather magazines that can coexist without competing with one another.
PERSONAL THOUGHTS
Bringing a new magazine to life was a very fun and valuable experience. Having complete creative and graphical freedom on the look and feel was a great challenge to bring the editor’s vision to life.
A very interesting aspect was the success of each section by itself on social media. Two separate accounts were created for both the women and men respectively. While the male account was an instant success, the female version needed a lot more attention and coordination in terms of followers and likes.
